Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Preparation • Presence • Integration
When insight has not been enough
Sometimes the way forward begins by listening from somewhere deeper.
You may understand why a pattern exists and still feel caught inside it. KAP can create a temporary opening in the usual way you experience yourself, making emotions, images, bodily knowing, and new perspectives more accessible within the safety of an established therapeutic relationship.
Ketamine may loosen familiar ways of protecting and invite a different quality of attention. The work is less about pursuing an extraordinary experience than making room for what has been difficult to feel, express, or imagine. For some, this becomes a form of depth and soul work: a way of meeting the inner life with more spaciousness, curiosity, and compassion.
What KAP may support
A deeper encounter with the work already underway.
KAP may support people living with depression, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, emotional shutdown, or patterns that remain unchanged despite sincere effort. The experience is different for everyone, and no particular outcome can be promised.
Psychological flexibility
Self-compassion
New relational choices
The process
A clear container for work that unfolds in its own way.
Consultation
We begin with a conversation about what brings you to KAP, your experience with therapy, and whether this way of working feels aligned.
Medical evaluation
Journey Clinical reviews your history, determines eligibility, and provides your prescription and medical guidance.
Preparation
We clarify intentions, discuss concerns, and develop grounding practices for meeting comfort and discomfort with care.
Supported dosing
You recline with an eye mask and music while I remain present throughout the two- to three-hour session.
Integration
Together, we stay close to what emerged and explore how it might take form in your relationships, choices, creative life, and understanding of yourself.
“The way out is in.”Thich Nhat Hanh
Some experiences feel vivid, dreamlike, or expansive. Others arrive quietly, as a new feeling, an image, or a subtle shift in how you understand yourself. A session does not need to be dramatic to matter. What matters is how we listen to what emerged and bring it gently into the life you return to.
Is KAP right for you?
KAP may be worth exploring if…
- You can name a pattern and still feel caught inside it.
- Depression, anxiety, trauma symptoms, or emotional shutdown continue despite sincere effort.
- You are open to preparation, supported experience, and the slower work of integration.
- You want expanded-state work held within an established therapeutic relationship.
Not everyone is an appropriate candidate for ketamine treatment. Eligibility is determined by Journey Clinical’s medical providers through a comprehensive evaluation.
Frequently asked questions
A few things to know.
Is ketamine approved for mental health treatment?
Ketamine is FDA-approved as an anesthetic. Its use for mental health treatment is off-label and requires evaluation and oversight from a qualified medical provider.
How is KAP different from a ketamine clinic?
KAP places psychotherapy at the center of the process. Preparation, support during dosing, and integration are connected rather than treated as separate services.
What if difficult material comes up?
Grief, fear, uncertainty, or unexpected memories can arise. We approach them without forcing meaning or rushing toward resolution, with attention to pacing and nervous-system safety.
Does insurance cover KAP?
Koan’s psychotherapy services and Journey Clinical’s medical services are billed separately. Coverage varies by service and plan, and fees are clarified before treatment begins.

You do not have to decide alone whether KAP is right for you.
A brief consultation gives us space to consider what you are hoping to change, what you have already tried, and whether this approach fits your needs.
